Sr. DevRel Engineer (Fractional)

Remote

About the Role

Tonic.ai is looking for a fractional Sr. DevRel Engineer to be the technical voice of our Go-To-Market strategy. In this role you will create and scale highly technical content that helps Enterprise engineering leaders discover, understand, and adopt Tonic. You’ll collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Marketing and operate as a hands-on DevRel practitioner building thought-leadership content and technical blogs. This is a part-time role requiring 10-20 hours per week with consistent output and visible impact.

What You’ll Do

Technical Content

  • Create "Peer-to-Peer" Content: Author sophisticated whitepapers, architectural deep dives, and opinionated blog posts that speak directly to Staff Engineers and VPs of Engineering.
  • Narrative Design: Translate Tonic’s platform capabilities into strategic business outcomes (e.g., "How synthetic data solves the staging environment bottleneck"), moving beyond "how-to" guides into "why-this-matters" strategy.
  • Video & Multimedia: Leverage AI tools to rapidly turn your technical insights into short-form video content for LinkedIn and YouTube that cuts through the noise.
  • Content Strategy: Partner with Product and Engineering to identify and bridge content gaps, ensuring our narrative addresses the complexities of the Enterprise SDLC.

Developer Engagement

  • Community Participation: Participate in relevant developer communities and forums to meet technical leaders where they already spend time.
  • Content Distribution & Reach: Share high-impact content across channels developers use (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, YouTube, Discord, GitHub, etc.) to drive authentic distribution and engagement.

Internal Collaboration

  • Product & Engineering Alignment: Work with Engineering and Product Marketing to understand and translate upcoming capabilities.
  • Sales & Outreach Review: Review and refine SDR outreach sequences and sales decks to ensure they sound like they were written by an engineer, for an engineer.
  • Marketing Sanity Check: Act as a sanity check for Marketing campaigns, ensuring our messaging resonates with a skeptical technical audience before it goes live.
  • Feedback Loop: Provide developer and industry feedback to Product teams to help shape the roadmap.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong technical background, ideally having served as a Staff Engineer, Software Architect, or Technical Lead within an Enterprise environment.
  • Deep understanding of how technical leaders evaluate software and build internal business cases for new tools.
  • Proven experience building developer-facing content with a strong narrative arc and technical depth.
  • A love for technical writing; you enjoy the challenge of translating complex engineering facts into compelling, value-driven stories.
  • Comfort presenting in webinars, meetups, or videos.
  • A visible online presence and a track record of engaging with the broader developer community.

Why This Opportunity

This is a chance to join a fast-growing B2B technical SaaS company with strong product-market fit, an experienced team, and backing from tier-one VCs. We are looking for a true technical peer to our audience - someone who can move beyond "marketing fluff" to deliver deep, strategic value.

The work is hands-on, visible, and highly impactful. You will have the autonomy to experiment and see your content directly influence adoption as you help enterprise leaders navigate the complex challenges of data privacy and synthetic data. This is a unique opportunity for a senior engineer or architect to leverage their expertise to shape the narrative for a platform that is fundamentally changing the Enterprise SDLC.
