We are looking for the person who sees a manual process and builds a system, the person who owns the entire loop from research and idea to build, distribute, and iterate.
Tonic.ai is a fast-growing, Series B company operating at the critical intersection of data privacy and AI agents. Our newest product, Tonic Fabricate, is an essential component of the modern AI development stack, enabling high-quality synthetic data generation.
We recently hit a major inflection point: $0 to $50k in recurring revenue and 1,000+ MAUs in the first 30 days since Fabricate’s launch. We’ve unlocked high-velocity growth among AI engineers, and now we need a Marketing Engineer to architect the technical engine that scales it.
The role
As a Marketing Engineer, you will sit at the center of Marketing, Product, and Engineering, acting as a system orchestrator across the entire customer journey - from awareness to revenue and retention. You have the technical skills to build real systems and the marketing judgment to know what’s worth building. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Growth Marketing, you will own the technical PLG infrastructure and AI growth agents for Tonic Fabricate. You own the entire PLG loop with no handoffs and no fragmentation.
What you’ll do
- Architect the AI-Native PLG Funnel: Move beyond traditional onboarding emails by building autonomous agents that research, activate, and guide users through the Fabricate experience.
- Engineer the Sales Bridge: Leverage AI-native orchestration (Clay, n8n, etc.) and LLMs to identify high-fidelity Product Qualified Leads based on complex usage patterns that standard tools miss.
- Invent Growth Capabilities: Build what doesn't exist yet, like a persistent agent that scans usage data to identify "Aha!" moments and personalizes expansion paths in real-time.
- Build the Experimentation Layer: Rapidly prototype in-product experiments, including pricing gates and credit-based systems, using AI to ship functional growth loops overnight.

- AI-Native Skillset: You are an AI-first builder who creates exponential efficiency by prompting and orchestrating LLMs for research, data evaluation, and building automated growth workflows.
- Technical Floor: You taught yourself how to connect APIs and architect systems. You vibe-code to ship functional experiments in hours, not weeks.
- Full-Loop PLG Ownership: You are comfortable identifying a friction point in the morning, building a product-based solution by lunch, and deploying the automated distribution system by EOD.
- Developer Persona Alignment: You understand that engineers hate traditional marketing. You prioritize utility, technical documentation, and immediate product value.
- Builder Mindset: You are a system orchestrator who prioritizes robust, scalable growth loops over short-term hacks.
